Product Description
Plastigauge is a plastic strand product used to measure clearance in plain automotive bearings. It is particularly useful for checking clearances in split bearings or in situations where a feeler gauge cannot be inserted.
To use it, torque the bearing to the figures specified in the relevant workshop manual, then undo it and compare the squashed strand against the supplied chart. It measures clearances of 0.001″ to 0.007″ (0.025mm to 0.175mm).
Plastigauge is available as an individual sleeve of 10 strands of measuring plastic, or as a bulk box of 10 sleeves (100 strands in total).
